Cengiz Bozkurt is a Turkish actor and director. He was born in Nevşehir, Turkey on December 24th, 1965. Bozkurt graduated from the Ankara Ataturk High School and went on to study Physics at the Middle Eastern Technical University. He started acting within the ‘METU Actors Group’ during his college years and took part in many plays. Bozkurt lived in Istanbul for a while until he moved to London in 1990 where resided until 2004.

Upon his move to London, Cengiz Bozkurt got accepted into the prestigious Goldsmith’s (University of London) where he majored in Cinema and TV Studies and took acting courses. In the meantime he acted in Turkish plays at the community centers he worked with. He also gave acting lessons in London to children who spoke Turkish, and organized short film courses. In these fourteen years he spent in England, Bozkurt took part in a very large number of productions and organizations. In 2000, he was in the founding group of the ‘Arcola Theatre’ led by Mehmet Ergen, and went on to act in English plays from then on.

In 2004, Bozkurt returned to Turkey and kicked off his theatre, TV, and cinema career with the play; ‘Insimore’lu Yüzbaşı’, which Mehmet Ergen translated for the ‘Kenter Theatre Company’ and also directed. Cengiz Bozkurt is currently active acting, directing, and coaching in both Turkey and England.

Also being active in directing, Cengiz Bozkurt sat in the director’s chair for ‘Suçlular Çağı – Suçsuzlar Çağı’, and ‘Kumarbazın Seçimi’, which he also translated.

Bozkurt was awarded ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the 2010 Golden Orange Awards for his performance in the movie ‘Kavşak’.
